SN65HVD230 3.3V CAN Bus Transceiver Module

Overview

Connect a compatible 3.3 V CAN controller to a CAN bus with this compact SN65HVD230 transceiver module. It provides the physical interface between the controller's transmit/receive signals and the CANH/CANL bus lines.

The module is supplied assembled with a four-pin right-angle header, a two-position screw terminal labelled CANH and CANL, and a yellow two-pin male header beside the terminal.

Sold individually: one module per purchase.

Compatibility and power

• Requires a separate CAN controller, either built into your microcontroller or provided by another device, plus suitable CAN firmware.
• Use a regulated 3.3 V supply and compatible 3.3 V logic. Do not connect a 5 V supply to the 3.3V pin or apply 5 V logic directly.
• Suitable for microcontroller boards that provide a compatible CAN controller and electrical interface. Check the exact board model; an Arduino or STM32 name alone does not establish compatibility.
• The TX/RX connections carry CAN-controller signals. This is not a general-purpose UART-to-CAN converter.
• This module does not include a CAN controller, USB interface, cables or a microcontroller board.

Connections

Follow the labels on the supplied board rather than relying on connector position in a photograph. Check bus termination before adding the module to a network. A resistor position marked 120R is fitted on this board. Do not short the yellow two-pin male header.
